Heritage Lighting started in 2021 following the purchase of an old vase lamp, already pre-converted. The vase itself was stunning but the fittings had seen better days and I couldn't resist tinkering.
Always raring for a challenge, I bought a lamp conversion kit online and set about the (not so) easy task of playing part electrician, part artisan.
Like all DIY projects I grossly underestimated the input and found myself solving problems such as; how to drill a wider hole in fine china, safely wiring, what glue to use, purchasing the materials and lots more gluing!
I was a beginner in 2021 and now all our lamps our PAT tested to ensure they meet British Electrical Goods standards/ the European equivalent.
Despite bumps in the road I was hooked on the highs and lows of 'lamping' and wanted to share my passion for upcycling with others.
Turning these often handmade works of art into something that can be used for further years to come has been incredible.
We love table lamps because they not only provide a statement decoration in bedrooms, living rooms, offices and dining rooms, but also provide targeted light to open up rooms by brightening darker corners. Fortunately, lamps can also make a pretty piece to decorate your room in their own right.
Heritage Lighting currently has a small studio that works as our workshop, office and photography space.
I'm fortunate to find myself in different places (mostly in the United Kingdom) often. I'll always take these opportunities to explore antique shops and vintage stores. Here is where we find the majority of the vases that eventually get converted into lamps.
Our unique lamps are available to buy now from Amazon Handmade. Amazon is a great way for us to easily reach a winder market with our handmade antique vase lamps.
